And now for something completely different... using my Popmatters.com credentials I got an interview (plus two comp tickets for me and my sound guy Paul, woohoo) with Fitz of Fitz & The Tantrums!!! I've already posted how I came upon this band on kcrw.com here and was thrilled to meet the guy who was behind this hip, retro-sounding band. They def stepped it up for the live show with faster tempos, flailing limbs and requirements for audience participation, which I'm always game to do.
The interview before the show was all very Rock 'N Roll, taking place in the basement of the Mercury Lounge with another band thumping the ceiling from upstairs and a rodent scurrying around -- the publicist quickly switched seats across the room but I didn't know why. (If it was me there'd be a huge SHRIEK on the audio!) Here's the outcome and do check out their tunes at the links provided.
