Late yesterday, I was going through my emails of music submissions when this instrumental from Obscure Me Records (Wallingford, CT) caught my ear. With all the focus on singing and lyrics as I worked on a commercial music search that afternoon, it was a nice respite to wallow in this pure arrangement of layered acoustics and electronics. Matthew Kohnle and Jason Socci are the duo behind Brundlefly & the Swede, finding time to create under the new name after playing together in the band DAYBED.
The album plays as two sides of "uninterrupted and constantly evolving music" according to the label, with influences from 90s era post-rock and experimental leanings. A guitar-centric base finds a plug in for side two, with strings, flutes and bass clarinets providing accents along way. Listen to the radio edit from the Obscure Me Records SoundCloud page or via the widget below, and order up a 12" vinyl which comes with a free hi-res download here.
